SO WHAT DO WE DO as consumers?  
Simple… You leave certain things in life to the professionals. Legally you can represent yourself in court and you can fix your own car. However those are two very different and complicated systems that we usually leave to a professional with years of experience. Sure we could spend hours researching everything if we could find the time and then try to deal with it ourselves. However… Without EXPERIENCE the odds are that you can do more harm that help yourself.
Understand this… Any Credit Restoration company MUST tell you that you can actually do this yourself, just like you can in the above mentioned examples. This is REQUIRED BY LAW.
Any company you decide to hire to help you with your credit, REMEMBER this… If they say they are the # 1 company, the Leader in the Industry or they have they highest deletion ratio out there. Know this; there is NO rating system for credit companies. So they are basically lying to you, so how much do you trust them now?
When a company talks about why they feel they are qualified enough to help you with your situation, do some research on what they tell you. Make sure you can VERIFY what they say. Otherwise they can make up anything…
